Relationship to Bushido-Kai Kenkyukai

A newly enrolled instructor may opt to choose one of two available relationships to the federation. They are Machi Dojo (Field School) or Nakama Dojo (Associate School). The difference is determined by how closely the instructor wishes to follow our hombu curriculum in his/her chosen division.

Those who follow the curriculum known as Uchi-Kyoka (Inner Curriculum) are considered Machi Dojo and are ranked in a Takeshin Martial Art. Those who choose to follow the Soto-Kyoka (Outer Curriculum), a less strict curriculum but one which still allows the federation to recognize a teacher's development, are considered Nakama Dojo and are offered rank recognition certification (rather than stylistic promotions).

It is the head instructor (supported by his/her students) who has a direct relationship with BUSHIDO-KAI KENKYUKAI. He/she learns so that they may learn.
